Months Have Turned Into Weeks!!!

The countdown has begun...... 19 days until I will be on a plane heading for Istanbul, Turkey!  I have been getting more and more excited as the days have been getting closer to departure!  I find myself searching pictures on the Internet of the places we will be seeing and getting butterflies in stomach!  Some of the breath taking photos I have been finding on Google Images are of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and pictures of various markets.  I still can not wrap my mind around the thought that in a matter of a weeks I will be in the same place as those photos!  At first I was not overly excited about Turkey and did not know what to expect, but as I learn more from our books, and surfing the Internet I am so glad we are going.  I never knew of the art and beauty of Turkey until now.  It is amazing how preconceived notions one has of a place because of the lack of knowledge.

New adventures ahead! On our way to Turkey...

Greetings, everyone!  Our intrepid group of CC Travelers is getting ready to leave the country again, in about a month (though I can't decide if that's really soon, or a near-eternity of hundreds more papers to grade.  Sigh).

This year, we have a group of 21 from Columbia College, in its many branches--not quite what we needed.  So, we have teamed up with a college in North Carolina which has the same time/route, and our bus will be full.  Ann thinks she's told us what college this is, but I don't think so.  It may be a mystery we don't solve til we meet up at the airport in Istanbul.

Yes, first stop, Istanbul--once ancient Byzantium, then Constantinople, now the thriving megacity that sprawls across the narrow strait that connects Europe to Asia.  Lots more to talk about as we get ready.  Here's the silhouette we'll be filling out:

Wonder where I put my passport...
